Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much will it cost to get my windows cleaned?

It varies depending on, for example, the number and type of windows at your property, the material your window frames are made from and the ease of access to your windows. Price will also vary depending on how regularly you have your windows cleaned. As such we provide personalised quotes to all our customers.

For a rough idea of price ranges for various types of property, check out our Pricing Guide.

You can also read more about our approach to pricing jobs on our blog.

How often do you clean windows?

The majority of our customers choose a monthly or 2 monthly external clean. We are happy to clean your windows less frequently but the price per clean goes up slightly as the interval increases. This is because each clean takes us a bit longer.

For internal window cleaning, once or twice a year is usually enough.

Do you give an exact day and time that you will come to clean my windows?

Due to the large number of customers we service and the unpredictable English weather, unfortunately this is not possible, but we do tend to stick to a regular working pattern and should visit at roughly the same time of the month.

For larger jobs (i.e. jobs taking half a day or more) we can offer a more precise date and time.

    How do I pay?

The easiest way to pay is by Direct Debit via our payment partner GoCardless. We simply send you a link and you fill in a few details to get setup (or sign up here). That's it! You never have to do anything else.

We then apply for payment ONLY AFTER EACH CLEAN IS COMPLETED and you will receive an email notification form GoCardless each time we do so, keeping you completely in the loop.

Usually, payment will go out of your account 3 working days after you receive notification.

Alternatively we will accept cash or cheque on the day of clean. We will text the night before and you have the option to leave payment out in an agreed safe place for us to collect.

Please note: we will never come round in the evening or weekend to collect money.

Will you clean my windows in the rain?

Yes, but only in light showers and as long as there is no detrimental effect on the quality of the finish. We don't clean windows in wetter weather; we save gutter clearances for those days instead!

How will I know when to leave my gate open?

We will always send a text the night before so you'll know to expect us the following day.

What happens if I am not home when you come round?

We do not require you to be home when we clean your windows. In fact the vast majority of our customers are out when we come around. If you are not home we will leave a card, posted through your letterbox, so you'll know we have been. If for some reason we were unable to gain access to the rear of your property we will clean the front of the house and charge you a reduced rate.

Do you clean during the winter?

Yes, our service is all year round (with the exception of during any adverse weather conditions).

Does the weather affect the service?

It can do. We clean windows when it is safe to do so and not, for example, in high winds or icy conditions. We are still able to clean windows on rainy days as long as it is not driving rain. Light rain will not affect your windows. Remember, it is not the rain that spots the windows, but a driving rain hitting a dirty window!

  • What is pressure washing?

Pressure washing is also known as power washing or jet washing. It involves using high pressure jets of water to clean various external surfaces.

What is pressure washing used for?

Pressure washing can be used to clean various exterior surfaces, for example, driveways, patios, pathways and decking. The process removes dirt, weeds, moss, mould and algae from these surfaces.

Why have your pressure washing done professionally?

We use high powered, industrial equipment which has increased cleaning power compared to DIY pressure washing equipment (e.g. Karcher) enabling us to get better results. With the greater power comes greater efficiency so we can also clean larger areas faster. The equipment we use is also more versatile than DIY options: the pressure can increased or decreased, and there are variety of nozzles which we can use. This means we can safely clean different surfaces and materials.

What are the benefits of pressure washing?

Aesthetics & curb appeal - Pressure washing effectively removes dirt, weeds, moss, mold, algae from patios, driveways, pathways and decking, improving the aesthetics and curb appeal of your property. If you’re selling or considering selling your home, touches like this can help your home sell and, potentially, increase its value.

Preparing surfaces for painting or sealing - Before applying paint, stain or sealant to some external surfaces they need to be thoroughly cleaned to ensure proper adhesion of the paint/sealant and longevity of the finish. Pressure washing can therefore be used as a preparatory step prior to painting or sealing external surfaces (e.g. decking, pathways, patios).

Health & safety - The build up of organic matter on external surfaces can lead to the formation of a biofilm which, particularly in shady areas, can become extremely slippery when wet. Keeping these areas clean, keeps surfaces safe to walk on and reduces the risk of slipping.

Do you need to use chemicals when pressure washing?

Not all pressure washing jobs will require a chemical treatment. However, some organic matter - e.g. black lichen spots - can be very difficult to remove with pressure washing alone without degrading the surface being cleaned. In these cases we will apply a chemical treatment (sodium hypochlorite), leave it to dwell for 20-30 minutes and then rinse it away. This step may need to be repeated to achieve the desired result.

What chemicals do you use for pressure washing?

If needed, after pressure washing a surface we may apply a chemical treatment of sodium hypochlorite which is the main ingredient found in household bleach. It is also used as a disinfectant for swimming pools, can be used to disinfect drinking water and is used in some medical treatments.

Will the chemicals be harmful to our dog or kill the grass ?

The chemicals we use are the same chemicals used for sterilising swimming pools and tap water (sodium hypochlorite). We only leave them on the surface for a short dwell time i.e. 20-30 minutes. We then thoroughly rinse the area with fresh water; any remaining chemical residue will be thoroughly diluted rendering it harmless to plant or animal life. However, as an extra precaution, we do recommend that pets are kept indoors until the surface is fully dry.

Will you remove moss/debris from our property?

Yes, we will tidy up and remove all mess and debris from site

Does pressure washing make a mess?

Pressure washing can be very messy. Any mess we make we will rinse away, tidy up and remove from your property and we will (re-)clean your windows if necessary. After all, the idea is to enhance the visual appearance of your property!

How often will I need to get my patio or driveway cleaned?

This will depend on a number of variables. Personal preference and cost will be important factors, as will the environment around your home. For example, the level of shade vs exposure to sun and humidity levels will all affect how quickly re-growth of surface biofilm will occur. You may find you only need to have a given surface pressure washed every 5 years or so. Or, you may need to have your surfaces pressure washed every year or two.

  • Will I get an invoice?

For one off jobs we will email an invoice to request payment.

Regular window cleaning customers (e.g. those having their windows cleaned one a month or once every two months etc) and who pay by Direct Debit can also request email invoices for their records.

What if I am unhappy with something?

We want to exceed your expectations. If you are not completely satisfied with our work, please let us know within 24 hours and we will come back, no questions asked, to make good. If you’re still not satisfied, we’ll give you your money back.
